We exist to glorify God by worshiping Him in spirit and in truth and by meeting the needs of people through compassionate evangelism, discipleship and ministry.
Whether you are brand new to the church thing or you’ve been around church for a while; we want to say welcome!
Our goal at Calvary is that you would be inspired by the music, encouraged by the message, welcomed by our amazing community of people and be reminded of God’s grace.
To be an active and growing body of believers who impact the world for Christ by building personal relationships with others and sharing the good news of the Gospel locally and around the world.

FOUNDED IN 1944
Calvary Baptist Church was incorporated on February 28, 1944, and called William A. Suk to be its first pastor. Starting out at the site of what are now Cherry and Bayliss Streets.
GROWTH + EXPANSION
In 1963, the Reverend Mark Dickerson became pastor and a Christian day school was begun in 1973. In 1974 our current 25-acre lot at corner of Perrine and Wackerly Road was purchased. Development began shortly after and has continued to this day.
SENIOR PASTOR
Dan Dickerson, Pastor Mark’s son, joined the staff in May of 1979 and assumed the role of senior pastor in 1988.
LOOKING FORWARD
Calvary Baptist Church has a long history in the Midland area and are known for their love and support for the community. We hope you will come for a service, and stay for a generation!
At Calvary, we strive to commit to the Word of God as we seek to make distinct statements about our faith. Our beliefs provide a framework for us as we seek to follow Christ. We hope that these statements and beliefs will help us stay true to God and help each of us follow Him passionately. It is our prayer that we stay true to the Word of God and continue to grow in Christ. We would love to hear from you if you have any questions.
We believe that the Bible is inspired by God. The 66 books in the Bible are without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is authoritative, relevant, sufficient and infallible. We can read the Bible with great expectation as it gives great hope and meaning to our life.
We believe in one God, existing in a unity of three persons – God Father,God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Godhead together are coequal, coeternal, and of the same essence. The creator God is perfect in all things. He is holy and the true judge and ruler of all. As the sovereign One, God can be known by those who seek Him. God is perfect in all his judgments and is perfectly loving.
We believe that man is an image bearer of God. Man was originally created sinless. Having sinned, (seen in Adam) physical and spiritual death were a reality and the result had great consequence. As a result of this sin, man chooses to sin and is a sinner by nature. Apart from a holy God, man is without hope and separated from God.
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ. He was born sinless, in His virgin birth, and lived a life without sin. He alone is the one who can atone for our sin. Through His shed blood and defeat of death by his resurrection he took our place. Christ, the righteous One, is our substitute. He took on our penalty and provided a way to life with Him and the Father. We believe that Christ will come again one day. Christ is with God the Father and is currently interceding for us.
We believe that the forgiveness of sins is a gift from God. This gift is received by grace through faith in Christ. It is through Jesus that one may come to God. It is through Jesus that one can turn from sin and trust in His death and resurrection for new life! Because of Christ we can be declared righteous and grow in our relationship with God. It is through Christ that one day we will be with God!
We believe that Baptism by immersion is taught in scripture. Baptism is an outward sign of public confession and is done in obedience to Christ. Although it is not a means to salvation, but it is done after salvation, it is a wonderfully celebrated ordinance of the Church. Like Baptism, the Lord’s Supper is for the believer. This visible ordinance of the church is a way in which we partake and show our communion that is found in Christ. As we live out our faith in Christ we desire to be a witness and proclaim the gospel through obedience.
We believe that the church is the body and bride of Christ. Believers in Christ should seek to join together in community for the sake of Christ and make more disciples of Him. Like the New Testament church, we strive to be led by Pastoral care and rely on the servant leadership of the deacons. We encourage those who come to Calvary to be saved, baptized and added to the church. As we live out the commision for the church we would love for you to worship here and use your gifts as we long to see others come to Christ.
